Port25 Solutions Releases Email Delivery Powerhouse for Email Service Providers and Enterprises

PowerMTA 3.2 First to Include Goodmail CertifiedEmail Support, Ensuring Unparalleled Performance and Deliverability

BALTIMORE, MD—April 10, 2006—Port25, the leading provider of enterprise-class email delivery software, announces PowerMTA 3.2, the latest version of its flagship message transfer agent (MTA). In parallel with this release, Port25 announces their Goodmail imprinter appliance solution and the integration of Goodmail imprinting functionality into PowerMTA 3.2. The appliance is the first to be approved and certified by Goodmail Systems.

Port25 Solutions First-to-Market with Turn-Key Goodmail Certification
Under the terms of an agreement signed last year, Port25's PowerMTA became a recommended appliance for the Goodmail CertifiedEmail service which helps ISPs, legitimate senders and consumers. The Goodmail CertifiedEmail service identifies email from accredited senders and assures delivery to the inboxes of AOL and Yahoo! customers by stamping the messages with a symbol indicating that they are safe to open.

PowerMTA v3.2 comes standard with the Goodmail CertifiedEmail imprinting capabilities. To use the CertifiedEmail service, a sender must first be accredited by Goodmail in order to ensure that the sender has a clean mailing reputation and adheres to email messaging best practices. The Port25 appliance is the first solution to pass Goodmail's thorough certification procedures, requiring advanced tokenization functionality combined with very high performance and scalability.

"In addition to their proven technology, one of the reasons we partnered with Port25 is because they are the leading provider of MTA solutions to ESPs," said John Ouren, senior vice president of sales and business development at Goodmail Systems. "We want ESPs to easily incorporate CertifiedEmail into their sending practices, and Port25 offers a turn-key solution enabling ESPs to enjoy the benefits of CertifiedEmail."

Industry Leading Email Service Provider, Responsys, Among First to Benefit from PowerMTA v3.2
Responsys implemented PowerMTA as part of their award-winning approach to providing cutting-edge, on-demand email and lifecycle marketing solutions to its customers. The company has received numerous accolades including praise in Forrester Research's recent evaluation of the leading ESPs entitled, "The Forrester Wave: Email Marketing Service Providers, Q4 2005."

According to Heather Palmer Goff, director of deliverability and ISP relations for Responsys, "PowerMTA reduces the demand on our internal resources and provides us with peace of mind because we know our customers' outbound email will be automatically authenticated. Further, Responsys customers choosing to participate in any accreditation service, such as Goodmail's CertifedEmail, are able to do so quickly and easily. This enables us to focus on our customers' campaign performance, leaving a portion of the delivery engine maintenance up to a proven partner in Port25."

Responsys' Palmer Goff will discuss the challenges of email deliverability at INBOX 2006, a leading email conference, on June 1 in San Jose, CA. Her panel presentation, moderated by Ken Magill of DIRECT Magazine, will address the impact a specialized MTA can have on deliverability and the importance of reputation and authentication in the email industry.

PowerMTA v3.2 addresses the requirements specific to outbound email delivery including: integration; advanced campaign segmentation and per campaign delivery control; detailed delivery and error reporting; compliance with ISP delivery and good neighbor policies; and high scalability and throughput. PowerMTA v3.2 delivers tools that also make it easy for senders to comply with all of the current authentication standards including SPF, Sender ID, DomainKeys and DKIM. PowerMTA highlights include:

  • Advanced Campaign Segmentation - PowerMTA can be configured to handle and deliver mail differently for each campaign, allowing senders to easily segment different campaigns, newsletters or streams of email into different virtual MTAs.
  • Delivery Policy Management - Responsible senders apply appropriate delivery settings for each recipient domain based on the domain's published (and/or unpublished) compliance policies, globally or on a per campaign basis. For example, if two campaigns run simultaneously, PowerMTA can be configured for campaign "A" to use a specific IP address for deliveries and the Goodmail CertifiedEmail service for AOL recipients. For campaign "B," PowerMTA can be configured to use both the Goodmail CertifiedEmail service and DomainKey-sign email only for Yahoo! recipients, while using a different IP address for delivery.
  • Reputation Monitoring - PowerMTA is the first email gateway to offer real-time reputation monitoring with immediate notification when messages are blocked due to perceived issues with the sender's domain.
  • Delivery Reporting - PowerMTA performs detailed tracking of all delivery related statistics that can be accessed through a variety of methods, allowing senders to make adjustments for maximum performance.
